kanaya got upset that she didn’t have any new models so rose “volunteered” dave into service. he griped about it but then came back for another dress. then another. eventually he got really elitist about it and he and kanaya would sit around and talk about fashion 24/7. he really likes the dresses. they make him feel manly. 100% canon

Rose brought her brother to Hellmurder Island to help her study the strange monsters living there, however Dave is much too busy being thoroughly romanced by a long lost American girl and her impressive guns for that.
This was a dumb doodle based off some terrible tarzan jpeg I did for amusement and then I decided hey let’s practice backgrounds that’d be a good ide- no, no it’s never a good idea. Now it actually looks like I was vaguely serious…..THIS IS PERFECT AHHH

I really want Homestuck nails, so I made a reference sheet! ◕v◕
I would cut my nails just to wear the Jade or godtier Rose ones.
This started out as doodles of the kids, to see how I felt about the outfits and if I maybe wanted to change them (so far Dirk’s is the only huge change, though Jade’s neck thing turned to a looser hoodie to look less warm)
Then I decided, as I started, that I wanted to draw the kids also based on what I believe they’d do either as a job or as their main hobby in Acquariet.
In Acquariet, I’m thinking at a young age (probably around 15 or so) kids would need to choose a place to work, and instead of highschool they’d do a work study. At the end of it, probs at about 18, they’d either be asked to stay or be let go.
In the case of Jake on this, I imagine since he’s without guardian at all, that he’s kind of self taught himself, and has had a huge interest in the little ship things that float above the city. So he always is climbing all the way up there and trying to talk them into taking him on as an apprentice.

I as I vaguely implied I would, I drew Runawaystuck Dave. I also… may have… gone a bit overboard.
I’m not even posting all the additional skeletal and muscular diagrams I did of his shoulders. Humans weren’t designed to have six limbs, man. But that’s the ideal for winged hominids, so I guess it’s my fault I torture myself over it.
Here are a couple of things I was going to do but defied runawaystuck canon so I cut em’ out:
I was going to to give Dave big old birdy eyes, but then realized that none of his disguises would work because it would be totally obvious he’s a mutant from first glance. But it looked cool so I’m puttin it here.
Also! It’s explicitly stated in the fic that Dave is a head or so taller than John, which contracts my compulsive need to make all my flying morphs as small and light as possible (Smaller = less weigh to haul through the air = easier to fly.) Also because I am rather infatuated with the idea of a tall, gangly John.
